Director of Med/Surg/ICU
Golden Plains Community Hospital is currently seeking a Director for our MS/ICU Unit. Hours are Monday- Friday, with on-call. Generous Benefits, PTO, sign-on bouns and relocation (if applicable).
Position Summary: Responsible for supporting the mission of the hospital, which is to provide accessible, cost-effective, quality care to the citizens of Hutchinson County from infancy through geriatrics. The Director provides the department with the expertise and guidance to ensure quality patient care by providing operational, financial, personnel, and strategic planning within the department. Interacts with the hospital and represents the department. Promotes teamwork with physicians, personnel, and other departments. Utilizes knowledge of standards, policies, and procedures as outlined for the hospital. Identifies and provides education and training for staff to meet the special needs of the department’s patients.

Position Qualifications:
- Graduate of an accredited school as a Registered Nurse licensed by the State of Texas.
- BLS is required by the first day of employment. ACLS and PALS are required within three months of employment. TNCC/ CEN required within eighteen months of employment.
- Must be able to provide direct and supervised patient care of all ages.
- Demonstrates the ability to perform the technical skills and critical thinking according to standards of care and practice.
- Demonstrates leadership, teaching, and management skills.
- Must be familiar with the standards of care regarding the specific department the Director works in.
- Five years of clinical experience with a minimum of three years of management/supervisory experience in a hospital.
Essential Functions:
- Directs staff and schedules work to facilitate effective and efficient patient care
- Oversees and manages all aspects of departments
- Plans, researches, and requests purchases of the department’s equipment and supplies
- Provides leadership, vision, development and implementation of long-term goals for the departments
- Identifies, facilitates and evaluates patient practices, programs and goals according to established nursing standards
- Investigates and takes appropriate action to resolve department and personnel problems
- Collects and reports data, statistics and information relevant to performance improvement projects in the departments
- Remains current in the latest developments in acute patient care and wound therapy
- Addresses patient, family and medical staff concerns regarding patient care
- Successfully performs clinical duties as required
- Is financially accountable for budget, both operational and capital, for all departments. This includes preparation, monitoring, and evaluation of discrepancies
- Monitors productivity according to standards for all departments
- Responsible for arranging education for all staff
