Assistant RN Director- Med/Surg/ICU
Golden Plains Community Hospital is currently seeking a Assistant RN Director for our MS/ICU unit. Relocation, sign-on bonuses , genourse benefits and a great PTO program.
POSITION SUMMARY: The Assistant Director has multiple roles and functions including caregiver, decision maker, client advocate, manager, rehabilitator, comforter, communicator, and teacher. The functions include assessment of the nursing needs of the patient, initiation of the plan of care and nursing actions, implementation of the plan of care, and evaluation of the process by use of the nursing process. The Standards of Practice set forth by the professional nursing associations provide guidelines for competent, safe, and professional practice. The Assistant Director promotes the dignity and the quality of the nursing care given to the patient. The Assistant Director assists the Director with Administrator duties, upon request. Responsible for collaborating with the nursing staff/other disciplines as needed in order to assist each patient in obtaining their desired goal by ensuring implementation of appropriate processes and plans of care.

QUALIFICATIONS: The following qualifications or equivalents are the minimum requirements necessary to perform the essential functions of this job:
Education and formal training:
- Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing.
- Currently registered in the State of Texas as a Registered Nurse, Bachelor's degree preferred.
- BLS is required by first day of employment. ACLS and PALS are required within three months of employment.
- TNCC is required within eighteen months of employment.
Work Experience:
- Two years of Med/Surg/ICU experience preferred.
- Must be able to provide direct and supervise patient care.
- Demonstrated leadership, teaching, and management skills.
- Attend all mandatory meetings.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

- Ensures the highest level of quality of service by exemplifying the highest standards of performance, adhering to policy and procedures; promoting a safe environment for patients, visitors, and staff; reducing errors.
- Maintains or exceeds appropriate qualifications through staff in-services, specialty certification, improvement of core competencies, outside education, and/or by constantly improving performance and skills. Acts as a mentor/preceptor to other employees to facilitate a strong learning environment. Is open to new ideas from other staff to promote a positive team approach.
- Assists in budget control of their department by awareness of supply costs, appropriate use of resources, control of overtime, and assisting in establishing appropriate staffing levels.
- Represents Golden Plains Community Hospital in a positive manner to the community, patients, visitors and other employees. As an ear to the community, the employee listens and promotes ideas for/or possible customer service enhancements. Discuss these ideas with their department director to increase hospital utilization.
- Assist with Director coverage when Director is unavailable due to vacation, illness, etc.
- Assist with unit duties as assigned by and agreed on by director and assistant director (examples: Performance Improvement projects, staffing, maintaining employee records and education, etc).
Additional Specific Requirements of the Assistant Director:
- The Assistant Director will play an active role in the education and orientation of new team members as well as students.
- The Assistant Director will assume at least one-third of the call coverage requirements to cover the unit (ten days/24-hour periods per month); this will include at least one weekend, defined as Friday, Saturday, and Sunday or a mutual agreement for call coverage is agreed upon between the director and the assistant. This is in addition to their normally scheduled shifts.
- The Assistant Director will step in and provide unit coverage as the Director during any scheduled vacations taken by the Director with proper notice.
- The Assistant Director should alternate call coverage with the Director to cover major holidays.
- In the event of any absence of the Director, including but not necessarily limited to major illness, termination, resignation, or other factors in which a director is not available, the Assistant Director will assume the duties of the Unit Director for an interim period, until the position has been filled or the situation has been resolved.
