Full-Time position. Monday through Thursday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.  Performs entry-level to routine (journey-level) habilitative and rehabilitative patient care services work. Work involves providing health and personal care services to patients; observing, reporting, and documenting patient conditions and behaviors; and intervening in medical and/or psychiatric emergencies. Will also deliver basic clerical duties and help with service delivery to patients as needed.  Works under moderate supervision, with limited latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.
Position Qualifications:

1. Experience in direct patient care work.
2. Graduation from a standard senior high school or equivalent is generally preferred.
3. Experience and education may be substituted for one another.
4. Experience working with older adults preferred.
5. Experience working with patients with mental health problems preferred.
6. Certification in CPR
7. Valid driver’s license
8. Current CNA certificate through the State of Texas

 
Essential Functions: Provides health, personal, and emergency care services to patients. Will deliver basic clerical duties as needed.

1. Observes, reports, and documents patient conditions and behaviors.
2. Observes patients for signs and symptoms of disease, injury, reactions to medications, or other conditions that warrant medical intervention.
3. Maintains direct and ongoing therapeutic interactions with patients to promote living and social skills.
4. Monitors patients and environment to provide for individual safety and health.
5. Administers first aid to patients as appropriate.
6. Intervenes in psychiatric emergencies using approved techniques, including prevention and management of aggressive behavior (PMAB) and/or the application of restraint or seclusion.
7. May escort patients off grounds to activities or appointments.
8. Answers unit phone as needed.
9. Performs related work as assigned.
